PAGE TWO: THE CHARACTER TAB
The CHARACTER TAB is the most important one in SimPose, because
this is where you'll be selecting and posing your sims. Let's study it,
so you can really become acquainted with it:
In the character tab, you will see a number of sections with drop down
menus:
CHARACTERS VISIBLE + CONTROL
Under the "Characters visible+control" section, you will see two menus
sitting side by side with the options "Sim2" or "Sim1" selected in each
one. The reason for these two dropdown menus is simple, although the reasoning
behind them both will be confusing to newcomers to SimPose.
Remember that with SimPose, you can pose one sim, or you can pose up
to four. These menus allow you to select how many sims you want on the
stage and which one gets controlled. Let's take a closer look:
| DROPDOWN MENU ONE |
DROPDOWN MENU TWO |
OPTIONS FOR MENU #1
Two-no offset
two sims will be suddenly appear on stage, but with both of them standing
in the same spot and looking mashed together (*NOTE: they're not really
mashed together, but appear to be so.)
Two-offset
two sims will appear, but standing at a distance from each other
Two-faceing
two sims will appear, but facing each other
Three-no offset
three sims will appear on the stage, but mashed together
Four-no offset
four sims will appear, but mashed together
Sim1
just one sim by itself will appear on stage, but just happens to be
called "Sim1"
Sim2
just one sim by itself will appear, but just happens to be called "Sim2" |
Allows you to pick which one of the sim characters
out of a group pose that you will be controlling. So if you select "Three-no
offset" from menu #1 and want to select the 2nd sim in the group to pose,
you would select Sim2 from the SECOND drop down menu. |
Got it? Really? Good. Now that you're comfortable with the idea behind
these menus, let's proceed to the next parts of the CHARACTER TAB.
CHARACTER SECTION
Okay, the CHARACTER section. This section is very important. It allows
you to choose whether you want a male, female, or child sim to appear on
the stage. It also determines whether this sim will be skinny, fit or fat,
or light, medium, or dark-toned.
The menus under the BODY SECTION are also very important. They
allow you to choose exactly which body you want to appear onstage, from
a selection of .skn and .bmp files available in SimPose. The top menu shows
the .skn file; the one beneath it shows the .bmp file that goes with it.
Right now your options are very limited, because SimPose only comes with
a few default skins. Later on I'll be showing you how to add more skins.
But for now, just play around with these menus to get the concept behind
this section.
The HEAD SECTION works exactly the same as the Body section,
except this time you get to choose which head you want to appear in SimPose.
Alright... now that you're acquainted with this part of the CHARACTER
TAB, let's get to the singlemost important part of SimPose, and that is
... taa daaaa! The "JOINT CONTROL section!"
