Why do the Sims keep turning around and yelling at me with these funny
symbols above their heads in these balloons?
Since you're taking care of the Sims like you would pets, they often turn
to you when one of their needs isn't being met. It's then up to you to
decide how to fulfill them. Each symbol that appears above their head corresponds
to a need they have that is running low. A toilet symbol means they have
to go the bathroom. A shower symbol means that they need to take a bath.
A hamburger symbol means they're hungry. A flashing red and white symbol
with a man and a woman in it means they're lonely. A symbol of a couch
means their body aches and they need comfort. A symbol of a bed means that
they're sleepy. And a symbol with what looks like musical notes and fun
things means they're bored.
If you want the yelling to go away, just fulfill whatever need the sim
is complaining about. Then the whining will go away-- well, that is, unless
they have something new to complain about!
